We survived.....

Well, after all the stressing and stomach pains.......we survived Hayley's first day of kindergarten!!! I don't know how tomorrow will go or even next week but in all the years we have tried with Hayley - nothing went as smoothly as this day did. Of course, she cried some and insisted on giving David a hug but she stayed in the classroom....something I really wasn't sure of. I could tell though it took a toll on David - he didn't sound like a proud dad, he just sounded like a beat up dad. Now mind you, he had to juggle all the school items for both girls and the anxious parents and kids trying to get in the classroom....so I can kind of understand his tone. I worked 1/2 day and picked up the girls and it was very interesting to see the look on Hayley's face - she wasn't worried that I wasn't there yet (dang school let the kids out earlier than they were supposed to) - she just looked like she had always gone to St Joseph's.

The car ride home was a bit chaotic as both girls just had to tell me about their days.....but I think I got it all. Amy has a new teacher who has never taught before, sits by some of her more chatty friends, had homework already, there is some kind of reward thing for the class with marbles and prizes - kind of got lost when she talked about it and she still doesn't like Alex P. - the boy whose mom buys him everything.

Hayley thinks there is another child with the last name "Vasquez", she sits at Table 1 next to a boy who went to preschool with her, the teacher read a story about kindergarten, and she played with two girls that she doesn't know their name - just that they sit at Table 1 and Table 3. Guess this year will be interesting to say the least......glad that they are happy their first day. Makes things so much easier for the whole family.
